Plusieurs dirigeants des pays membres de la Communauté économique des Etats de l’Afrique de l’Ouest (Cedeao) étaient attendus ce vendredi dans la capitale nigérienne, Niamey, pour participer à un sommet extraordinaire sur la crise politique en Guinée-Bissau, a-t-on appris de source officielle.

Ce pays membre de la Cedeao traverse une période difficile sur le plan politique, a noté jeudi le président de la Commission de la Cedeao, Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, au sortir d’une audience avec le président nigérien Mahamadou Issoufou, qui est également président en exercice de la Cedeao. « C’est tout à fait normal que les chefs d’Etat se réunissent pour examiner la situation et essayer d’apporter des solutions pour pouvoir permettre à ce pays de pouvoir retrouver la sérénité, la paix et la stabilité », a-t-il dit.

La Guinée-Bissau traverse aujourd’hui une crise politique inédite avec deux Premiers ministres à la tête chacun d’un gouvernement, alors que la campagne pour l’élection présidentielle du 24 novembre prochain a débuté le week-end dernier.

La question de la fermeture de la frontière avec le Nigeria depuis le 20 août, qui a de graves conséquences sur les économies des pays voisins, sera également évoquée lors de ce sommet extraordinaire, a-t-on indiqué de source proche du dossier.
